New Confetti & Fireworks & why we have jewelry in our collection in the first place

Aside from interior products and design-solutions for the day-to-day, House of Thol designs jewelry.
Random, right?
Maybe i shouldn't actually say 'House of Thol designs it', since jewelry is really my (Jana's) background, and what i focused on when working under company name 'World of Driftwood'.

Taking the step to work together with Thomas meant that part of my 'World of Driftwood' projects would have to be put on the side-burner for a while. Which i didn't have a problem with at all.
But jewelry ideas kept popping up, and although we still haven't quite figured out how it fits in with everything, we decided to incorporate some of my jewelry designs into our House of Thol collection.

Short answer: There's jewelry in our collection because i couldn't help designing it. (saving possible unconscious significance for retrospection)

Right.
Glad we got that covered.
Now let's talk about the new Confetti & Fireworks necklaces...

ABOUT CONFETTI & FIREWORKS

Confetti & Fireworks is a new series of contemporary brass and enamel necklaces, similar to the Neotribal collection.
The speckled finish, bright colors and geometric shapes make Confetti & Fireworks a perfect modern accessory, both for the everyday as for a dressy special occasion.

Brighten up your day with the light and bright Confetti-necklace, or go for mysterious chique with the darkblue speckled Fireworks.

All Confetti & Fireworks necklaces are handmade with care in our studio in Zandvoort, at the Dutch seaside.
Each necklace comes in a sturdy cardboard giftbox and has a lengthy gilt ballchain that slips on easily.

A bit of a 'salesy' text?
That's possible, part of it is taken from Crowdyhouse, where Confetti & Fireworks will premier this Monday. - CHECK IT OUT

Deja Vu Interior - photograph via here

Nijmegen, the lovely Waalside 'Pearl' in the east of the Netherlands, has a lot of history (hello oldest city in the country!), and -if you divert from the main streets- plenty of cute little shops.

Design store Deja Vu on the Houtstraat has since long established its name as the go-to shop for design and design-related gifts and we're proud to add them to our list of House of Thol resellers.

Don't go looking here for Waterworks-sets however: Deja Vu opted to start with the Driftwood jewelry line instead.

Thoughts about Valentines Day

Living in the Netherlands, i grew up with a healthy aversion to the 'Marketing-Machine-that-is-Valentines-Day'.
It just wasn't ever that big over here, and all the heartshaped chocolates in store-windows makes me feel like the whole celebration is more about commerce than love.

That said: back when i was a teenager i was lucky enough to receive a few Secret Valentines-cards. Trying to find out who sent them was an exciting task: Till this day i'm still not sure who one of the secret admirers was, and although i was pretty certain the card didn't come from the boy i fancied, it still made my day back then.

I guess things like that still make the day of any 14-year-old girl.

As long as Valentines Day is about secret loves and handwritten postcards i'm all for it: not so much when it's about the guilt-driven heart-shaped box of chocolates you buy so your loved one won't feel disappointed.

But... i now have a business to run.
A business with, amongst other things: jewelry.
Except for chocolate and flowers, nothing screams Valentines Day as loudly as jewelry.
What to do!?

We decided to set up a Non-Valentines-Day action: order any piece of jewelry in our webshop with a 10% discount with the use of coupon code 'NOVALENTINE'.

I promiss your purchase won't come in a heartshaped box.
NB. For all you romantics out there: you can still opt for a romantic wrapping theme that will involve hearts

Be quick about it: the coupon code will expire on Monday February 16th.

Pssst... just to let you know...

Shooting jewelry - what we did this Weekend

Last Saturday was the first (kind of) sunny day in over a week: finally time for some photography!

Neotribal, a range of very wearable unique handmade necklaces with a geomatric touch (enameled brass, gilded ball-chain), has been waiting to be added to the webshop for a while now, and this Weekend we finally had time to shoot some pieces.

Neotribal - enameled brass, gilded ball-chain - The Driftwood '13/'14

We'll be adding them to the shop shortly, don't miss it, these are all unique works of jewelry!

In case you're wondering why we didn't go outside when the weather was that nice: don't worry, we did that too.
