We're on Crowdyhouse and we're trending!

Crowdyhouse is an online platform that makes it possible to buy directly from designers and makers in the entire world.

One part of the Crowdyhouse website is all about 'Premieres': freshly designed products that are new to the market and sometimes made to order. (read more about premieres)

And there's a regular shop/marketplace that's a bit like Etsy, but way more curated: All designers who want to sell via Crowdyhouse need to apply first, and only after approval by the Crowdyhouse team can they set up shop and offer their designs online.

We decided to give it a go, and after going live last Tuesday, Waterworks has already climbed the ranks of popularity and is trending!

'Functional and Stylish' - Westwing Magazine visited last years' DDW

Westwing Magazine is a members-only online shopping-club that features everything for a chique and stylish interior.
A large team of stylists, writers and designers share a joint passion for interior design and a curiosity that drives them to discovering the newest items out there.

During the Dutch Design Week in 2013 they first discovered Waterworks and wrote this nice article about it.
Hopefully they'll be visiting us again this year to see the finished and available product.

Party prep!

It took us months and months of hard work and a lot of hard lessons, but finally: Waterworks will be officially launched this Saturday!

We're now prepping the studio to make it the best launch party location ever, which includes impromptu garlands and a lot of greenery.

Volkskrant Magazine Publication

Very happy to be in this weeks' Volkskrant Magazine design special.
Jeroen Junte, one of the top Design critics in the Netherlands, dedicated an entire article about crowdfunding Dutch Design. And we are in it!

House of Thol @ VROAAM!

Tomorrow we'll be guest-speakers at VROAAM! a career-event organized by the BNO (Dutch Designers Union).  We're part of a small series of presentations about crowdfunding at the end of the afternoon, and will tell all about our WATERWORKS-crowdfundcampaign.

Not that we're crowdfunding-experts after just one successful campaign, but we might have picked up a few things here and there that could be interesting to share.
Anyway, we're happy to be part of the event and i'll make sure to be there on time, hoping to take part in a workshop or two.

Without you we would've been nowhere

So.. we made it: our crowdfunding campaign is over, and what a rush it has been!
The past three months were all about getting WATERWORKS out there, trying to raise enough money for a first production run.
And that we did: we ended up raising more than €8400,-!

Among Crowdfunding Superstars

Last Tuesday we were part of the 'What's up? #63: Crowdfunding Superstars' - line up.
We weren't too bothered beforehand, but upon entering the venue and seeing more than a hundred (100!) people there, i started to feel a wee bit nervous. No need though: our graceful host Jorgen Tjon a Fong asked the perfect questions to make us feel at ease and we ended up having an animated conversation that was over before we knew it.

We weren't the only 'Superstars' featured, but we were the only ones with a crowdfunding campaign still running.
One of the already successfully executed projects that was illustrated was the photobook 'Dutch Champions' by lovely Anne Claire de Breij and Niels van Muijden.

Yes! We're there! We've crossed the magical border of 100% funding. THANK YOU ALL!!!

You can imagine we uncorked a bottle of champagne last night. ;-)

Design.nl on Crowdfunding & WATERWORKS

Cassandra Pizzey of Design.nl spotted the new Crowdfunding-initiatives that are popping up everywhere and wrote a nice article in which several of the new platforms are introduced.
And we're featured as well!

Here's the short section about WATERWORKS:

"Over at Sectie C it was Dutch Design Starter who had set up shop and were presenting a number of products for the consumer market. “It’s important for us to be able to produce our ideas without making concessions to the design itself,” explains Jana Flohr of House Of Thol. Their project Waterworks is a watering system for forgetful plant owners or ones that are often away from home. The irrigation system works through a terracotta funnel and glass bulb and it’s quite obvious why the design should be left as it is. We can imagine how a commercial producer would simplify the model and use cheaper materials. "
